Wood quality and
Wood sorting simply explained
Wood is sorted for sale so that it can be used in the best possible way.
For example, a trunk with many large knotholes usually fetches a lower price than a trunk that does not have these characteristics.
We also sort into different classes according to quality. A common division is into classes: A, B, C and D, where A is the highest quality class and D the lowest.
A general description of the quality classes:
A = Heartwood (the middle of the trunk) of excellent quality. It is free from defects or has only minor quality characteristics.
B = Logs of normal quality with few and/or moderate quality characteristics.
C = trunk wood with up to 15% sapwood, knots of varying sizes, cracks in the wood, distinctive colour and fibre patterns.
D = Logs which, due to their characteristics, do not belong to classes A, B or C, but can be used as logs.
Which wood quality is right for you is usually a visual decision.
The rustic BC grades are perceived as more dynamic, wild and characteristic. The high quality A is more monotonous and uniform in color and wood gradient.
As wood lovers, we are more drawn to the rustic version. The wood is simply more alive here and shows itself in its most natural way.

1. Handarbeit und Naturmaterialien
Unsere Möbelstücke werden in liebevoller Handarbeit aus heimischem Vollholz gefertigt. Holz ist ein natürliches Material – das bedeutet: Jedes Stück ist ein Unikat und kann in Farbe, Maserung, Struktur und Beschaffenheit leicht variieren. Genau das macht unsere Möbel besonders!
2. Abweichungen & natürliche Eigenschaften
Bei unseren Produkten kann es zu:
- leichten Maßabweichungen
- natürlichen Rissen, Astlöchern oder Wurmlöchern
- sichtbarem Splintholz
- sowie leichten Verformungen durch Temperatur- und Feuchtigkeitsschwankungen kommen
Diese Eigenschaften stellen keinen Mangel, sondern den natürlichen Charakter und die Einzigartigkeit des Materials dar.
3. Pflege & Behandlung
Unsere Möbel werden naturbelassen ausgeliefert, sofern nicht anders vereinbart (z. B. bei geölten Modellen wie dem „rasti“-Bankerl). Holz ist ein lebendiger Werkstoff – regelmäßige Pflege (z. B. mit Naturölen) wird empfohlen, um die Schönheit langfristig zu erhalten.
